Implantation is the implantation of an artificial titanium root (implant) in place of a missing tooth and the installation of a crown on it.
Implants consist of two parts – the implant itself, which is placed in the bone instead of the root, and the abutment – the outer part, on which a zirconium oxide or metal-ceramic crown is placed. As a rule, the implant is completely osteointegrated (grows in the bone) after surgery for 2-3 months on the lower jaw, and after 4-5 months on the upper. After completion of osseointegration, a crown can be placed on the implant.
Very often we perform implantation simultaneously with the removal of hopeless teeth (ie we install the implant in the hole of the removed tooth), this significantly reduces the time of rehabilitation and crown placement!
